The other day, a major update introduced 3D Live to BanG Dream!
Here are some impressions of playing the 3D live mode.
Change settings to improve 3D Live issuesWe also have an article summarizing this, so please take a look if you're interested.
It includes solutions to the problems described in this article!
Introducing my playing environment
I play BanG Dream on a Galaxy S21 SCG09.
It's a smartphone with decent specs that cost about 120,000 yen when I bought it.
Please note that the content of this article from this point on will be my impressions after playing on this device.
What is the quality of the 3D live?
First of all, my honest impression after watching the 3D Live is that I personally felt it was quite beautiful for a smartphone game.
While you play the rhythm game, cute characters will move smoothly in the background.
Not only the body movements, but also the facial expressions were carefully crafted, and I thought the quality was high.
The camera angles were not only from the front, but also from the side and back, and it seemed like a lot of attention was paid to the characters' hair and costumes.
You can change the costumes of each character from the ones you have acquired.
The conditions for unlocking costumes include obtaining the 5-star characters that were added in the same update, and costumes that are collaborations with other anime and other things can also be purchased with paid stars (paid items).
There is also a try-on feature, so you can check how it looks before you pay.
About 3D cut-ins
It's a little different from 3D Live, but 3D cut-ins have been added.
Even if the song isn't compatible with 3D Live, you can see the 3D characters with 3D cut-ins.
I don't fully grasp the details, but I think there are probably several patterns for the cut-ins depending on the character, and they appear randomly or in a set order.
There are cut-ins where two characters appear at the same time, so I think there's a chance that the cut-ins may change depending on the character combination.
You can watch 3D live shows without playing rhythm games
Naturally, it will be difficult to watch the 3D live show while playing a rhythm game.
This has been taken into consideration, and the rhythm game elements have been removed, allowing you to watch a 3D live performance.
You can choose the characters that will take part in the concert, and you can choose to have the original members singing the song, or you can choose your favourite five.
I can't see the rhythm icons and notes...
There was a problem when playing in 3D Live; the notes (rhythm icons) were hard to see, which caused some inconvenience when playing.
When the colors of the 3D live image and the notes (rhythm icons) do not match well, it can be difficult to see.
I also thought that 3D cut-ins had similar issues.
lastly
The quality of the 3D live is very good, but considering the issue of the notes being difficult to see, I think the main way to watch it will be through 3D live viewing.
The same problem exists with 3D cut-ins, so if you're having trouble seeing the notes and can't get a full combo, I think the basic approach is to play with 3D cut-ins turned off.
