Prestige is like a level that increases with experience points.

Prestige is like a player level and increases automatically by participating in matches and earning experience points. By looking at other players' prestige, you can get an idea of how far that player is progressing. As your prestige increases, you will be able to use certain weapons and equipment. Prestige rewards can be checked from the progress menu. Rewards are available up to Prestige 55, and after that the only reward will be Prestige emblems.

In previous COD, there was a prestige reset.

In previous COD games, Prestige had a reset system, and when you reached the level cap of Prestige 1, you could reset it and move up to Prestige 2. Since it has become a challenging element, some of you may have reset it and worked your way up to Prestige Master.

There was a caveat to this prestige reset, as it had the disadvantage that weapons and equipment unlocked by prestige would be locked again. As a result, each time you reset your prestige, you would no longer be able to use strong customizations for your weapons, and you would end up using weaker customizations than your opponent, putting you at a disadvantage. What's more, I've had experiences where I was temporarily unable to remove the camouflage because a particular weapon became unusable, and I desperately tried to level up and unlock the weapon again.

There is no prestige reset in MW3.

MW3 Prestige does not require a reset unlike traditional COD. Therefore, there is no need to reset weapons or equipment, making it easier to remove camouflage. With traditional prestige, the upper limit of prestige is fixed at the time of release, but in the case of MW3, the upper limit of prestige increases each season. Although the upper limit increases each season, there are no special rewards added, and you only receive emblems. If you reach the previous season's prestige limit before the next season starts, your prestige will not increase until the next season.
