Can be selected in multiplayer lobbies

The way to select the rules is very simple. First, go to the multiplayer lobby screen. Then, move the cursor to Quick Play at the bottom left of the screen. Then, you will see Playlist Filter below. In my case, I'm playing on PS5, so I move the cursor to Quick Play and press the square to open the Playlist Filter.

Randomly match among checked rules

This playlist filter randomly matches the rules selected. If you leave it at the default setting, all rules are selected, and you will be matched with rules you don't want to play. Selected rules are marked with a check mark. I think this system is one of the reasons why many players ignore the rules.

Once you have selected only the rules you want to play, return to the lobby screen, select Quick Play, and apply for matching. You will be matched with the rules you want to play.

A brief explanation of each rule

Below is a simple explanation of each rule for beginners. Please refer to this if you are not sure which rules to play.

Team Deathmatch: Best for Beginners

The most recommended rule for beginners is team deathmatch. Teams are divided into 6 vs. 6, and the first team to get 100 kills wins. It's simple and has allies, so it's recommended for beginners. However, if you just wait for the enemy to come in the same place, it will take extra time to improve, so be sure to move actively.

Free-for-all: Individual competition without teammates

Free-for-all is recommended for beginners who don't want to hold back their teammates. Unlike other rules, this rule is an individual game without teammates. The first player to get 30 kills will be ranked first.

Domination: Fight for three bases

Of the rules for taking bases, Domination is the easiest. There are three bases, A, B, and C, on the map, and teams compete to take them. If you stand in a base for a certain amount of time, you can capture it, and you get points every few seconds depending on the number of bases you have captured. The first team to reach 200 points wins. The theory is to take two bases and keep defeating the enemies that come to take them, so this rule is not suitable for people who don't like waiting for the enemy to come.

Search and Destroy: Advanced Rules

Search & Destroy is a game for advanced players. Players are divided into two groups: the attacking team, which places bombs on targets placed on the map to destroy them, and the defending team, which protects the targets from being destroyed. The game is played in rounds, with the roles of attack and defense swapped every round. The first team to win six rounds wins.

This alone may not seem like a very difficult rule, but if you die once in each round, you cannot revive during that round. Therefore, it requires very careful movement, so it is a rule for advanced players.

Kill Confirm: Team Deathmatch with Tag Recovery

If you feel that the first Team Deathmatch is not enough, we recommend Kill Confirm. When you kill an enemy, a tag is dropped, and you cannot get points unless you collect the tag, which is the difference from Team Deathmatch.

Since you have to collect tags, you will move around a little more than in Team Deathmatch. This is recommended for those who prefer simple rules with more movement than Team Deathmatch.

Hardpoint: Fast-paced and difficult rules

If you like rules with lots of action and gunfights, we recommend Hardpoint. When a player enters a base that appears on the map, that team will receive points, and the first team to reach 250 points will win.

The locations where bases appear are fixed, and the bases move in order every 60 seconds. Therefore, you will need to run around the entire map, and there will be more enemy encounters.

Personally, this is my favorite rule set, I play it often, and it's a popular rule set that is also used in competitive games.

Control: Domination with limited lives

Control is a game similar to Domination, but with a limited number of lives. Each team has a set number of respawns, and if their lives reach 0, they lose. In addition, players are divided into two teams: one that captures the bases on the map, and the other that defends them.

The attacking side must seize the base, but the limited number of lives requires more careful maneuvering than in Domination. Recommended for those who find a moderate sense of tension helps them concentrate.

Gun Game: A free-for-all where you have to kill with a variety of weapons

Gun games have very unusual rules. You can't use your favorite weapon, and the weapon changes automatically every time you kill someone. The last player to kill an enemy with a knife will be ranked first. Like free-for-all, there are no team divisions and no allies.

Summary: Narrow down the rules you want to play and play stress-free

Use the playlist filters introduced in this article to play only the rules you like. It can be stressful to be matched with rules you don't want to play, so be sure to try using the playlist filters!
